Size matters

An open notice to all military commanders making speeches:

IRAQ IS NOT THE SIZE OF TEXAS.

I'm not sure how this vicious rumor was started, or why it the comparison is constantly made, but Iraq is slightly larger than California and roughly 100,000 sq miles smaller than Texas.

So please, for the love of all that is good in this world, quit making the claim. It is embarassing for all of us.
