How I've been killing the last few hours
Improv Everywhere (though it could be Improve Everywhere if my wife didn't have better eyes than I do)
Check out the missions page. Entertainment for all ages.
On an unrelated note...
The Army is very big on cultural celebrations, history months, recognition days, and the like. It shows how much we care. And is also very important so when racial/gender conflicts occur Commanders can easily say "We've conducted all the proper indoctrination for the Soldiers, so clearly it is that individual's fault and not a chain of command problem, let alone a systemic issue." It's CYA at a massive level. (Much like KBR's obsessive compulsive behavior with safety, but I'll save that topic for redeployment)
August 26th was Women's Equality Day. Not that I knew this. All I knew was that the evening meal at the DFAC was Turkish food night. I don't go to dinner, so I didn't dine on the Turkish food made by Nepali, Pakistani, and Philippino subcontractors. But I was aware that it was happening. On the morning of the 27th myself and the LT went to breakfast to find that the stage in the DFAC had been pushed further to the seating than it normally is.
While behind the stage,
LT: I wonder if they had belly dancing with the Turkish dinner.
Me: Not sure, that would have been amusing.
Me: (rounding the side of the stage to see "Woman's Equality Day" signs on the stage) Oh, I hope they had belly dancing.
I'm sure it was a good event. Sans belly dancing.
